Registry

The Registry is the key driver of the university administration. It is headed by the Ag. Registrar, Mr. Olufemi Adenrele Adebowale, who is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University. For the purpose of running the University, the Registrar, who is a Principal Officer of the University, is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the institution. By virtue of this responsibility, the Registrar also serves as Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation, and Convocation. He is the custodian of all University records, as well as the interpreter of the laws establishing the University and regulations governing staff appointment, promotion and discipline.

Mrs. Adebola Abegunde, a retired Registrar of the University of Lagos, was the pioneer Registrar of the University. She assumed duty in October 2012 and completed her tenure of five years before she was succeeded by Mrs. Tokunbo Alaba Kehinde, who retired as a Director at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

For ease of administration, the Registry operates through units which, as the University grows bigger and in complexities, may be upgraded to divisions and directorates; as the case may be. Currently, the Registry has the Council Affairs Unit, Academic Affairs Unit, and Human Resources Unit. Staff in some of these units currently multi-task so as to maximize the use of personnel.

The Council Affairs Unit headed by the Registrar himself, is responsible for preparing for Council meetings, covering such minutes, and implementing decisions of the Council under the directives of the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor.

Academic Affairs Unit takes care of Senate matters including covering the meetings of the Senate, students’ admission, examination records and transcripts, and other related matters. The unit is currently headed by a Deputy Registrar II.

The Human Resources Unit is responsible for all issues relating to establishment matters such as advertisement of vacancies, arrangement for interview of shortlisted candidates, issuance of letters of appointment and promotion of staff, staff welfare and discipline as well as other matters relating to staff well-being. The unit is headed by a Senior Assistant Registrar under the direct supervision of the Registrar.
