Established in 2012, McPherson University (McU) is named after late Aimee Semple McPherson – the founder of Foursquare Gospel Church, whose vision and mission has always been to impact life through leadership, development and service.
McU is fast taking shape as the hub of intellectual activities. The University is equipped with modern ICT facilities. The institution is also known for academic discipline, moral probity and its competitive edge which is revolutionizing the Nigerian education.
McPherson University is a distinct and vision-driven, leaders-producing Institution that is highly committed to providing a world class education to students from various tribes and races in Nigeria and beyond.
The Ivory tower is an initiative of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Nigeria which has taken education as one of its basic foundations with a view to raising balanced “champions” who will lead and bring the desired change.
The University was licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on Tuesday, 28th day of February, 2012, as the 49th private University and 121st University in Nigeria.
The University is located on 122.3 hectares of land at Seriki-Sotayo, near Foursquare City, Ajebo. It is bounded on the north by the Ogunmakin-Ajebo-Abeokuta road and on the east by farmlands and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The site of McPHERSON UNIVERSITY lies approximately within latitude 7º07N and 7º08N and longitude of 3º41N on elevation of between 82m to 109m.

The University will also provide a setting for students to reflect on their individual and collective roles in influencing and re-shaping the underlying values and structures that dominate societies”.
In addition, the University will be unique in its approach to training by going beyond the traditional methods of theorethical education, thus contributing its quota towards improving the social, political, cultural and economic status and structures of the immediate society and positively influencing the larger society.
Objectives
The University will pursue the following objectives:
- Promote education for all, irrespective of race, colour, religion, or nationality
- Offer education that is guided by Christian principles and moral discipline; and
- Produce graduates empowered with knowledge for leadership, service and social responsibility

The University Logo
The logo of the University consists of the square and a shield. The outer design of the logo is a blue square which house a darker blue shield on which the colours of the promoter: Four (4) squares in Red, Yellow, Blue and purple. The shield is a symbol of strength and truth. It also houses the acronym for the University “MCU” in yellow colour.
McPherson is written inside at the bottom of the square in reverse against the dominant blue background for strong emphasis while university UNIVERSITY is under it but outside the blue square. Inside the big square is the University motto “Knowledge, Integrity, Service”.
Blue, the dominant colour of the logo symbolizes WISDOM, FAITH, PATIENCE and LOYALTY. It is also one of the key colours of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, the promoter of the University.
Board of Trustees
McU’s first Board of Trustees was constituted in 2012 under the chairmanship of Dr. Afe Mayowa. After its stipulated tenure of five years, the Board was reconstituted in 2017 with Dr. Afe Mayowa reappointed as its chairman alongside a number of members of the pioneer Board. From 2019 – 2022, was appointed Rev. Tunde Lemo. Currently, the Chairman is Pastor (Engr.) Kunle Allen.
