About McPherson University


MCPHERSON University is an initiative of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria that has taken education as one of its basic foundations. The church in its quest to develop and equip men and women for leadership and service, established a seminary in Ikorodu, Lagos state in 1955. The seminary is perhaps the best in the country today. The church has also established Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools in many towns and cities of Nigeria.  The establishment of a University by the organization, therefore, and although in response to the call of the Federal Government on Nigeria for partnership in tertiary education delivery, is the ultimate in the organisation’s educational goal.  However, the proprietor of MCPHERSON University is determined that MCPHERSON University will not be just another University.

A University Establishment Committee (UES) with twenty-one (21) members was inaugurated in May, 2007.  The Committee, chaired by a renown Professor and a former Vice-Chancellor, is to pursue the actualization of the Church’s vision.  The Committee has made very good progress as land has been acquired and establishment documents – the Academic Brief, Master Plan and the University law among others, have been submitted to the National universities Commission in November, 2008.

MCPHERSON University is being established on the philosophy of creating a modern University that will encourage intellectual productivity and enhance the academic as well as the professional skills of its students and facility.  Because of the belief of the Church in developing men and women for leadership and service, the mission of MCPHERSON University will be to provide qualitative, functional and sound education with godly virtues that will prepare its graduates for leadership and positive impact on the society.  MCPHERSON University will be a world class institution that is equipped with modern ICT-driven facilities.

MCPHERSON University will be situated in a conducive environment that will enable its students develop their analytical, critical and professional skills and advance their consciousness to social responsibility for a diverse and global society.

MCPHERSON University will produce disciplined and public-spirited graduates with demonstrable scholarship and skill with capacity to hold their own in the world of work.
